1.5 Million Bottles of Cleaning Product Recalled Due to Bacteria Concerns
Federal regulators have pulled approximately 1.5 million bottles of a popular household cleaning brand from shelves due to potential contamination with harmful bacteria.
Thrasio, a Boston-based company, initiated a recall for its Angry Orange Enzyme Stain Remover after it was discovered that the product might contain Pseudomonas aeruginosa, as per a notice issued on Thursday by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
This particular bacteria can pose health risks, especially for individuals with weakened immune systems or those using certain medical devices, the CPSC cautioned.
The commission noted, “Bacteria can be inhaled or enter through skin breaks.” Generally, healthy individuals typically won’t be affected, but it’s still a serious concern.
The recall, identified as number 26-201, affects both the Fresh Clean and Orange Twist scents of the product. It comes in 24-ounce, 32-ounce, and 1-gallon sizes. The bottles are easily recognizable, featuring orange and white colors along with “Angry Orange” and “Stain & Odor Remover” prominently displayed.
Some recalled products were also part of a bundle that included UV light spray accessories.
Manufactured in the U.S., these products were on sale from March 2019 to December 2025, priced between $4 to $60. They were available at major retailers such as Walmart, Target, Home Depot, and others, as well as online through platforms like Amazon and Chewy.
Additionally, around 43,700 bottles were sold in Canada, according to the CPSC. Thankfully, no reports of injuries or illness linked to this recall have surfaced.
Consumers are urged to stop using the affected products immediately and to reach out to Thrasio for a full refund. The CPSC recommends disposing of the product in its original container and advises against emptying or recycling the bottle.
At this time, Angry Orange has not provided any immediate response regarding the recall.
