Anchorage police are investigating two separate shootings that left one man dead and another injured and facing murder charges.
According to a police press release, the latest shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. Monday after officers were called to a report of a shooting in the Anchorage area. When officers arrived on scene, they learned two men were involved in the shooting in the parking lot. Officers were able to take one into custody, but the other resisted, police said.

According to the statement, officers released a police dog after the man put his hands inside his clothing. The man pulled a gun and refused to let go, so three officers opened fire, striking the man in the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured. The officers have been placed on administrative leave while a special prosecutor investigates the incident.

Police said in a press release that a separate shooting occurred around 2:30 a.m. Saturday when gunfire was heard coming from a downtown parking garage. Officers encountered a man with a gun. Officers shot the man in the upper and lower body and he was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
According to police, a preliminary investigation has identified the gunman as Caleb Brudkowski. Police say he was involved in an altercation at a local bar and as he was leaving he and Diego Joe got into an argument that resulted in a physical exchange. As Brudkowski was leaving, he fired a shot in the direction of a group of people, including Joe, fatally wounding him and wounding another man.

Police said Burdukowski was charged with first- and second-degree murder and it was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney representing him.
