More than one million people were left without power after severe storms hit parts of Texas.

Hurricane-force winds lashed the Dallas area on Tuesday before spreading to Houston throughout the day. Wind speeds in Dallas were reported to have reached 77 mph, and power outages continue to affect many homes in the area.
The storm that hit Dallas eventually reached Houston, where wind gusts of 75 mph were recorded at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

In Dallas County, where hundreds of thousands of people lost power, officials declared it a disaster and warned the outages could last for days.
While some locals are still grieving the severe storms that hit over Memorial Day weekend that killed at least seven people in the state, a new storm is already on its way: Storms ripped through the central U.S. over the holiday weekend, killing nearly 22 people across five states, four of them children.
Some communities are still dealing with major losses of businesses and homes.
The greatest risk of severe weather on Tuesday is expected to affect parts of Texas and western Louisiana. The main risks associated with the storm are large hail, lightning and wind gusts of up to 80 mph.
according to Flight Aware More than 600 flights have been canceled and more than 900 delayed due to cancellations of flights to and from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Dallas Love Field, according to the data.
Currently, more than 530 flights departing from George Bush Intercontinental Airport and William P. Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas, have been delayed and more than 75 flights have been canceled.
