10 best golf holes on the PGA Tour during 2025 season, ranked

and 2025 PGA Tour Season Check out the 10 best holes played by PGA Tour pros this week, starting at the Sentry on Maui. The list includes holes at Oakmont Country Club and Royal Portrush, which host the U.S. Open and British Open, respectively.

Without further ado, here is the list:

10. Hole 18 — Muirfield Village

Par 4 — 484 yards

One of the greatest closing holes in golf, the 18th hole at Muirfield Village, results in very few birdies and a solid par score. Finding the fairway is essential as there is water on the left and a deep bunker on the right. And the green sits above the fairway with a natural amphitheater surrounding the putting surface. But best of all, you'll get to shake the Golden Bear's hand after your round at The Memorial.

9. Hole 3 — Oakmont Country Club

Par 4 — 467 yards

What's the first thing that comes to mind when the name “Oakmont Country Club” comes to mind? For me, like many other golfers, the first thing that comes to mind is the “Church Pews” bunker .

This bunker is located between the third and fourth fairways and is nearly 100 yards long and 40 yards wide. It features 12 grassy knolls that give this trap its famous name.

On this third hole, Church's bleachers are on the left side of the fairway, and five additional traps are embedded into the hill on the right side of the short grass, emphasizing drive precision. The green is on a small hill, and if it's too close, it will repel short shots. There is a foraging area outside the green that poses even more problems. The green begins to slope away in the back third, leaving many flash shots long.

This is a great golf hole and one of the most underrated holes in the world.

8. Hole 16 — Royal Portrush (Dunluce)

Par 3 — 246 yards

This par-3 beast will play as one of the toughest par-3s all year, but it's also one of the finest. Only 24 birdies were allowed at the 2019 British Open, but this hole proves how difficult it is to play, especially in difficult conditions. No wonder it was the third most difficult hole of the week.

The view is of a huge valley between the tee box and the green, extending to the right of the hole. It also offers great views of the entire course, making it one of the best par 3s in golf.

7. Hole 16 — TPC Scottsdale (Stadium)

Par 3 — 163 yards

The hole itself isn't anything special, but the atmosphere surrounding it certainly is. The WM Phoenix Open is one of the most-attended events of the year, but it's also one hell of a party.

why?

The stadium surrounds the 16th hole. Fans arrive at the venue at dawn, trying to secure seats where they can cheer and jeer as the players pass. There were plenty of great moments on the 16th, but none as special as the one from 2019 when Gary Woodland and Amy Bockerstette made headlines with Bockerstette's “I Got This” putt.

6. Hole 18 — Riviera Country Club

Par 4 — 475 yards

Like the 18th hole at Muirfield Village, the closing hole at Riviera Country Club is one of the best in golf.

The uphill tee shot is blind, so players feel uncomfortable from the tee. But finding the fairway is essential for this challenging finisher. The green has a wonderful natural amphitheater and is topped by the famous clubhouse, making it the perfect place to watch a game of golf.

Many players would agree that the 18th course should be included on this list, as Riviera is also a favorite course for many of the PGA Tour's top pros. But even if it wasn't, it would be foolish not to include this incredible hole.

5. Final 3 holes — TPC Sawgrass (Stadium)

Hole 16 — Par 5 — 523 yards

Hole 17 — Par 3 — 137 yards

Hole 18 — Par 4 — 462 yards

The 17th island green is perhaps the most famous golf hole on the planet. But as last year's Players Championship finish proved, 17th place is just one piece of the final puzzle.

The 16th is a great short par 5 with plenty of entertainment and water surrounding the green.

The 18th is a great finishing hole with very few birdies. It's a tough challenge, and many players often end up cursing architect Pete Dye as they finish the round.

So, as great as the 17th hole is, I couldn't resist including the 16th and 18th holes as well. This ultimately makes TPC Sawgrass and The Players more special year after year.

4. Hole 7 — Pebble Beach

Par 3 — 106 yards

Where is the world's best par 3? The short seventh at Pebble Beach certainly has some basis for that distinction. Located at the tip of a peninsula and stretching all the way to Stillwater Inlet, this small hole may be the most beautiful spot in golf. With the Pacific Ocean all around you, all you need between you and the hole is a flip wedge. However, this is easier said than done and wind can quickly wreak havoc on a round here.

3. Hole 18 — Oakmont

Par 4 — 505 yards

This gigantic par 4 is a real challenge with little room for sub-par scores. But Dustin Johnson did just that at the 2016 U.S. Open, finishing off his first major win with a birdie on the hole.

If you don't find the fairway here, you'll quickly find yourself in a bogey or worse situation. This is also not an easy accomplishment as there are bunkers on both sides of the short grass. The greens are also pretty tricky, but so are all of the greens at Oakmont, which is known for having some of the fastest putting surfaces in the world.

2. Amen Corner — Augusta National

Hole 11 — Par 4 — 520 yards

Hole 12 — Par 3 — 155 yards

Hole 13 — Par 5 — 545 yards

Need I say anything about the most revered spot in Augusta National, let alone the sport as a whole? I couldn't choose just one of these three holes, I had no choice but to include them all. Each of these holes is great for different reasons, but they all have similarities in common. It's located in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

1. Hole 5 — Royal Portrush (Dunluce)

Par 4 — 374 yards

After the picturesque 9th hole at Royal County Down, I would argue that the 5th hole on the Dunluce course at Royal Portrush is the greatest par 4 in the world. This dogleg right descent not only offers stunning beauty of the North Atlantic, but also plenty of opportunities.

He had 111 birdies at the 2019 British Open, so it's not a difficult hole in itself. The fifth hole was just one of three holes played under par during all four rounds that week. Still, it provides plenty of entertainment. This undulating green is located just before a steep dropoff down to White Rocks Beach, which was played out of bounds six years ago. It's really boom or bust.

But the natural beauty that surrounds this amazing hole is what makes it so iconic. Oh, and the view of Dunluce Castle, which gives the course its name, adds to its splendor and reminds you that you're on the Emerald Isle, synonymous with a piece of heaven.
