New Orleans – Prisons in New Orleans are currently on lockdown following the escape of several inmates early Friday morning.
The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office (OPSO) reported that the inmates were discovered missing around 8:30 AM during a routine check at the Orleans Judicial Center.
In response, OPSO personnel, along with local law enforcement agencies, are actively involved in searching for the escapees.
- 33-year-old Antoine Massey
- Charges: Domestic abuse battery, car theft, parole violation
- 27-year-old Renton Van Bren
- Charges: Illegal possession of firearms, obstruction of justice, and dealing with contraband in prisons
- 31-year-old Leotate
- Charges: Simple robbery, firearm possession, illegal transport of a weapon with drugs
- 27-year-old Derrick Groves
- Charges: Second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder
- 42-year-old Jermaine Donald
- Charges: Second-degree murder, aggravated battery, firearm possession
- 20-year-old Corey Boyd
- Charges: Second-degree murder, aggravated battery
- 35-year-old Keith Lewis
- 24-year-old Dkenen Dennis
- 21-year-old Gary Price
- 21-year-old Robert Moody
By 11:30 AM, 20-year-old Kendel Miles was apprehended during a pursuit in the French Quarter.
“After a brief chase, he was arrested on Royal Street,” reported state police. “Troopers are collaborating with partners to find the other escapees and ensure public safety.”
The public is advised to stay alert and aware of their surroundings.
