12-Year-Old Girl Believed to Be Involved in Two DC Robberies

12-Year-Old Girl Arrested for Northeast DC Robberies

On Sunday, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) arrested a 12-year-old girl in connection to two robberies that occurred on October 5 in Northeast DC.

The girl was apprehended in the evening, suspected of involvement in a “snatch” robbery and another robbery described as “violent” alongside a group of boys, as per the police statement released on Monday.

The first incident reportedly took place just before 8 p.m. A victim was riding his bicycle on M Street after grocery shopping when several juveniles approached him. One suspect collided with the victim’s bicycle, while two others attempted to steal the bicycle itself but ended up only grabbing some groceries. The suspects then fled the scene.

About 20 minutes later, another robbery occurred. This time, a different victim was riding a scooter on the Metropolitan Branch Trail when she was confronted by a group of juveniles. The girl was forced to stop as one of the suspects grabbed her book bag. The police reported that the suspect stole her scooter but abandoned it when a mountain bike officer arrived. She was also robbed of her cell phone during this encounter.

Following the arrest, the suspect faced charges related to these incidents, although additional individuals were named in connection with the robberies.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and indictment of those involved in crimes in the District of Columbia.

Interestingly, the alleged robberies coincided with a separate incident where a man was arrested outside the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle. This was just hours before the Supreme Court’s officials were set to convene for their annual “Red Mass.” Reports indicated that authorities discovered more than 200 improvised explosive devices and hateful messages targeting various groups.
