A 12-year-old girl confessed to stabbing her father to death hours after he tried to escape, police said.
The unidentified man confessed Friday night to killing his father, James Waldy, 56, during a “disagreement” at their north Las Vegas apartment. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
Authorities said she had previously attempted to flee, but police had dropped her off at her home hours before the killing.
“We found no evidence that the girl had been seriously harmed prior to the incident,” police said.
Police have responded to the apartment several times before, including the last time she tried to flee on Dec. 7. According to Fox6 Vegas.
She was arrested about a week later on suspicion of punching and injuring a man during an earlier fight, police said.
On Friday, another relative called police to report the father's death. Police said the 12-year-old girl initially claimed the intruder had killed her father, but eventually confessed to stabbing her.
She was arrested and booked into the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of murder.
