Corgi Race Takes Over Vilnius

This past weekend, the streets of Lithuania’s capital, Vilnius, saw thousands of visitors as 120 teams of eager Corgis and their owners came together for a vibrant event. It was quite the sight, with dogs of different breeds and backgrounds strutting their stuff.

According to the event’s official website, the Corgi Race Vilnius took place over two days, showcasing the talents of Pembroke and Cardigan Corgis. There were racing events, solo sprints, puzzles, costume competitions, and even a “Strongest Voice” contest.

Participants traveled from various corners of Europe—places like Latvia, Poland, Austria, Italy, and Germany—to join in on the fun.

One dog lover mentioned that “Vilnius transforms into the heart of the Corgi universe. Every dog lover wants to be a part of it,” and it certainly felt that way.

The weekend culminated in a World Corgi Meet-Up on Sunday, according to reports.

Janina Stoniene, a retired teacher who attended the event with her three grandkids, shared her excitement, saying, “It’s such a fun and wonderful feeling for the whole family and a bright thing many have been craving lately.”

Among the highlights was Amigo, a Corgi that captivated the crowd with a factory-themed costume, winning the costume contest. Other competitors showed up dressed as characters like Princess and Batman.

In the solo race, Mango emerged as the champion, much to the cheers of the spectators.

One participant, Ignas Klimaika, noted, “This is our second time participating in Corgi Race 2025. Last year wasn’t perfect for us, but we trained hard this time around. Still, we decided just to enjoy the experience with so many wonderful Corgis.”

Reflecting on his dog’s performance, he added, “He knows what he’s done and he’s really proud of himself.”

Last year’s Corgi Race in Vilnius attracted around 100 Corgis from five different countries and nearly 7,000 enthusiastic fans, according to the event’s details. It’s shaping up to be quite the annual tradition for dog lovers everywhere.
