“There is a concept of a plan” is a phrase I am trying to hijack. :

Vice President HarrisDuring her first confrontation with her ex-boyfriend, she launched a ferocious attack.President Trump She repeatedly provoked President Trump while remaining calm, and her positive message offered a striking contrast to a new generation of leadership.
Trump, meanwhile, had a tough night. His comments, spreading an unfounded conspiracy theory that immigrants are “eating dogs”, were widely mocked online. “They're eating pets,” he shouted, while Harris looked on with critical laughter. Learn more about conspiracy theories (He also faltered when asked about alternative care plans. “We have ideas for plans,” he said.
Harris knew how to hit Trump where it hurt.Namely, the size of the crowds. Ms Harris urged Americans to attend Mr Trump's rallies, then watched as people left early because they were “tired and bored.” This got on Mr Trump's nerves and he was infuriated, and continued to rage for much of the rest of the debate.
Conservatives attacked the presenter. ABC News hosts fact-checked Trump and Harris' claims in real time during the debate, a stark difference from the June debate, which conservatives slammed. David Muir and Lindsay Davis They intervened, arguing that he was unfairly attacking Trump, not Harris.
In an interview with Fox News after the debate, Trump said it was “the best debate I've ever been to.” Sean Hannity“Then, in a post on Truth Social, he claimed it was a “three on one” debate. And in an interview with Fox News on Tuesday morning, Trump suggested that ABC News had treated him unfairly, saying “they should be stripped of their license for the way they've done things.”
Harris achieved what he set out to achieve. For Harris, facing her first and likely only debate with Trump was a big gamble: Polls showed many Americans wanted to hear more from her before deciding to vote, but some were unhappy with how she was approaching policy changes.
And the best thing about Harris' night : Taylor SwiftSwift entered the era of endorsements. Shortly after the debate, the megastar endorsed Harris, signing an Instagram post with the words “childfree cat lady.” Trump dismissed Swift's endorsement, predicting that “she's going to pay the price in the market.”

What next? Harris quickly challenged Trump to a second debate, but Trump hasn't made his position clear, so we'll have to wait and see.

Harris and Trump shake handsHarris walked up to Trump and held out her hand. Harris initially tried to meet Trump in the middle of the stage, but Trump walked toward the podium, where she met him and held out her hand. In other words, she forced him to shake hands. 💻 Watch the handshake
Axios Alex Thompson pointed out It was the first handshake at a presidential debate since the first Clinton-Trump debate in 2016.
What you didn't see on TV : CBS News Sarah CookCook was the lead reporter on-site during the debate, and when asked how Trump and Harris spent the second commercial break, Cook said:
Trump commercial “The moment the stagehand announced a four-minute break, Trump turned toward the exit, closed his mouth, sighed heavily and walked off the stage without even looking at Harris.”
Harris' commercial:“The moment the host announced the break, Ms. Harris began writing in her notepad. She continued writing throughout the first two minutes of the break, occasionally placing one hand under her chin or tucking her hair behind her ear.” Read the full pool report
There was a noticeable difference in body language:
-
Trump remained largely expressionless as Harris spoke.
- But as Trump spoke, Harris' facial expressions ranged from laughter to critical looks.
-
Apart from the opening handshake, Trump did not look at Harris throughout the debate and never called her by her name, only referring to her as “she” or “hers.”
- Harris, on the other hand, looked Trump directly in the eye, even as he refused to make eye contact with her.

A vote on government funding? Not today!:
|
speakerMike JohnsonRepublican House members from Louisiana backed away from a planned vote today on a partisan GOP plan to keep the government funded after Sept. 30.
Please rememberThe bill's chances of passing were slim, since there was already more opposition than Republican leadership was prepared to tolerate. The Hill)
