NCAA Baseball Tournament Advances to Super Regionals

After an exciting weekend filled with regional action, the NCAA Baseball Tournament has now progressed to the Super Regionals.

Even if college baseball isn’t your thing, MLB fans might want to tune in.

There are still 16 teams vying for the chance to play in Omaha come late June. Plus, this weekend brings a host of MLB Draft prospects to keep an eye on. Here are 13 players to watch during the Super Regionals, all of whom have the potential for early selections in the upcoming 2026 MLB Draft.

Justin LeBron, SS, Alabama

Back in 1991, when the Kansas City Royals picked Joe Vitiello as the seventh overall choice, he became the highest-ranked player from Alabama. But that could change this July with Justin LeBron in the mix.

LeBron has put forth strong performances for the Crimson Tide over the past three seasons. While his stats dipped slightly from an impressive 2025 season—where he recorded a .316/.421/.636 batting line with 18 home runs—he’s found renewed energy during the NCAA Tournament, hitting 6-for-16 during the district competition.

His improved bat speed this season is noticeable, particularly when he hit a home run against USC Upstate in the regionals. It’s impressive to see how he maneuvers through the zone and connects on breaking balls.

Current mock drafts suggest LeBron is projected within the 5-10 range, a drop from last year when he was often seen as the top talent. With UCLA’s Rock Cholowski, once favored for the No. 1 pick, now out of contention, LeBron has a chance to enhance his draft stock significantly.

Ace Reese, 3B, Mississippi State

Ace Reese made a name for himself during his freshman year at Houston and transferred to Mississippi State, where he claimed Rookie of the Year honors in the SEC, boasting a batting line of .352/.422/.718 with 21 home runs.

His follow-up season showed consistency, as he batted .328/.429/.698 while hitting 22 home runs.

A standout moment came during a regional final against Louisiana, showcasing his power potential. His impressive summer stint at Cape Cod, where he hit .303/.361/.485, could also elevate his draft profile.

Cade Townsend, RHP, Ole Miss

Cade Townsend is among the standout college pitchers expected in this year’s MLB Draft, known for both his dominant fastball and an array of effective breaking pitches. His fastball frequently reaches the high 90s, but it’s his curveballs, sliders, and cutters that make him especially dangerous.

Last season, he transitioned from a solid team role, going 5-3 and serving as Ole Miss’s No. 2 starter. His performance this weekend against Auburn might further bolster his draft status.

Aiden Robbins, C, Texas

Aiden Robbins’s collegiate journey showcases his success across multiple teams, beginning at Seton Hall. He made waves with a .302/.386/.512 batting line in 2024 and continued this trend in summer leagues.

The next year, he further improved by hitting a staggering .422/.537/.652, before transferring to Texas, where he recorded a .347/.435/.721 line with 23 home runs—definitely catching scouts’ attention.

Chris Rembert, 2B, Auburn

Chris Rembert started the 2026 season as one of the best hitters in college, delivering a .344/.467/.555 performance in 2025 and matching that in the following season with a .350/.402/.475 line.

With a strong finish in regional games, including a must-have performance against NC State, Rembert could solidify his status as a top prospect.

Mason Edwards, RHP, USC

Mason Edwards has taken an unconventional path to likely first-round status. Initially, he faced challenges but demonstrated substantial improvement, increasing his pitch velocity significantly under the guidance of his coaches.

Over two seasons, he’s emerged as one of college baseball’s top pitchers, achieving an impressive ERA and leading the nation with strikeouts.

Daniel Jackson, C, Georgia

Daniel Jackson’s unique skill set has made him a standout. After a successful stint at Wofford, he transferred to Georgia and made history by becoming the first player in SEC history with a 25-25 season—29 home runs and 25 stolen bases.

His remarkable combination of power and speed makes him a captivating prospect for this draft season.

Carson Tinney, C, Texas

Carson Tinney’s promising career hit a snag in summer leagues, but he rebounded strongly in the SEC, showcasing his power and solid defense, which earned him a finalist spot for collegiate awards.

Joey Bolchko, RHP, Georgia

Joey Bolchko has been impressive with his fastball and slider, making a successful transition after transferring from Stanford. This season he’s racked up notable stats while demonstrating his potential as a future star.

Brendan Bullock, C, Oklahoma State

Brendan Bullock played a crucial role in the Sooners’ path to the Super Regionals, especially highlighted by his performance against Georgia Tech, where he hit two home runs which solidified their victory.

Luger Riojas, RHP, Texas

Luger Riojas has shown versatility, beginning as a bullpen arm before transitioning successfully into the rotation. His array of pitches keeps scouts interested, despite some recent health concerns.

Taylor Rabe, RHP, Ole Miss

Taylor Rabe is also a player to watch at Ole Miss, especially after a strong finish to the season. He has been steadily improving since returning from an injury and shown promise in vital game situations.

Jake Schaffner, SS, North Carolina

Jake Schaffner transferred to North Carolina after a successful stint at North Dakota State. His first year in the ACC displayed remarkable improvement, making him a prospect to keep an eye on in the upcoming draft.
