Government Support for Singaporeans in August 2025
In August 2025, many Singaporeans will benefit from additional government support through the permanent Products and Services Tax Ticket Scheme. For those who qualify for both cash and Medisave components, the combined benefits could total as much as $1,300, which is intended to provide meaningful assistance for both daily living expenses and healthcare costs.
It’s important to note that the GST voucher scheme is not a one-time initiative. Rather, it has been a continuous aspect of Singapore’s social support network since its introduction in 2012, aimed specifically at aiding low- and middle-income residents in coping with their everyday expenses, especially as goods and services taxes increase.
Throughout the years, this program has evolved in response to rising incomes and living costs. In 2025, for instance, the income ceiling for cash payments will rise from $34,000 to $39,000, helping to ensure that those with lower incomes remain eligible for support.
Eligibility for GSTV and Cash Payments
Cash payments under the GSTV scheme are available for adults who meet specific criteria. Primarily, eligibility is determined by factors such as age, income, property ownership, and the annual value (AV) of their homes, which is assessed by Singapore’s Inland Revenue Bureau.
To qualify for the maximum payment of $850, individuals must be at least 21 years old in 2025, have a taxable income below $39,000, own only one property, and have a home AV below $21,000.
If someone meets the age and income requirements but resides in a property with an AV ranging from $21,000 to $31,000, they will receive $450 instead. Note that those with multiple properties will not qualify for any GSTV cash payments.
| Standards (2025) | Annual Value of the House (2024) | Current Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Over 21 years old in 2025, taxable income up to $39,000, owning only one property | Up to $21,000 | $850 |
| Over 21 years old in 2025, taxable income up to $39,000, owning only one property | Over $21,000, up to $31,000 | $450 |
| Owns multiple properties | Any value | Not qualified |
Payment Timeline for GSTV Cash
GSTV cash payments will be automatically distributed to eligible individuals who register in advance. The timing of payments will vary based on the method chosen for receiving them. Medisave Top-Ups for Seniors
The Medisave top-up is allocated to seniors aged 65 and older who meet the relevant criteria. These top-ups are transferred directly to the recipients’ CPF Medisave accounts, where they can be used for hospital bills, outpatient care, and approved health insurance. The amount eligible seniors receive will vary based on their age and the annual value of their property.
For example, seniors aged over 85 living in homes with an AV below $21,000 can expect to receive up to $450 in top-ups. Payments will be automatically credited starting on August 11, 2025, and seniors who have signed up for the scheme previously will not need to reapply.
