'16 and Pregnant' Star Whitney Purvis Taken into Custody for Involuntary Manslaughter

MTV’s 16 and Pregnant Star Whitney Purvis Arrested

Whitney Purvis, known from MTV’s 16 and Pregnant, was reportedly taken into custody on Monday by sheriff’s deputies in Floyd County, Georgia, facing charges of involuntary manslaughter.

According to records, Purvis is charged with involuntary manslaughter for allegedly distributing a substance called “Tranq,” which is a mix of fentanyl and xylazine. This substance is said to have contributed to the overdose of a man named John Mark Harris.

In addition to the manslaughter charge, reports indicate that Purvis faces two other drug-related charges, one of which is for possession with intent to distribute.

Interestingly, this arrest marks a continuation of legal troubles for Purvis, as she had previously been arrested for lesser charges, including a shoplifting incident involving a pregnancy test, and another related to unpaid child support that stemmed from damaging an electronic device.

Notably, this latest arrest comes only a month after the passing of her 16-year-old son, Weston. Reflecting on his health challenges, Purvis shared that he had been diagnosed with several conditions, including a serious genetic disorder and Addison’s disease, which eventually led to diabetes complications.

In an emotional statement about her son, Purvis described his struggles with diabetes and how difficult it was for him to cope with the condition. She recounted moments of heartbreak as he questioned the unfairness of his situation.

Purvis conveyed that each day feels stagnant since her son’s death, expressing how overwhelmed she feels and the difficulty she has in picturing a future without him. “When I’m not crying, I’m just staring at the ceiling,” she reflected. “It’s hard to think anyone would end up in this situation, and now I can’t even begin to grasp what comes next.”
