In Mayor Brandon Johnson's (D) Chicago, 16 people had been shot, two fatally, by Saturday afternoon over the Thanksgiving weekend.
Breitbart News reported that one of the two people killed in the shooting was Oak Park Police Detective Alan Reddins.
Reddins was shot around 9:30 a.m. Friday after responding to a call about a man coming out of a bank with a gun. He died approximately 40 minutes after being shot.
ABC7 pointed out Jerrell Thomas was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Reddins' death.
CBS News noticed The other shooting occurred just before 2:20 a.m. in the 2800 block of West Polk Street, where a 17-year-old boy was shot and killed. A 17-year-old boy was standing on the street when someone got into a car and opened fire, striking him multiple times.
The 17-year-old boy was taken to the hospital, where he died.
of Chicago Sun-Times pointed out 515 people have died in Chicago so far this year.
