Joy Ligon went on to say she was relieved the girl received the maximum sentence, but added that it was not enough. She had asked prosecutors to press charges of first-degree murder, but instead prosecutors agreed to a plea deal with the girl to reduce her charges.
“Children need to understand that they have free will and free choice to do what they want, so keep encouraging them to do the right thing,” she continued. “Stay away from conflict. Some things are not that serious – definitely a sweet and sour sauce.”
