Teen Charged in Fatal Hit-and-Run Case Transferred to Adult Court

A New Jersey teenager has been moved to adult court following allegations of his involvement in a hit-and-run that resulted in the deaths of two girls. Vincent Battilolo, aged 18, is accused of striking and killing two 17-year-olds riding electric bicycles in Cranford on September 29, 2025.

Shortly after the incident, Battilolo appeared on a gaming livestream with WFIN and boasted about the attention he received, describing it as “engagement.” He stated, “The more you guys engage in the chat, the more you engage me, the more I get paid for YouTube.” He also mentioned that he would continue streaming unless negative messages stopped, according to reports.

Battilolo’s legal representative has yet to respond to inquiries regarding the case.

Brent Bramnick, representing one of the victims’ families, remarked that they were “very happy” with the transfer to adult court, emphasizing that the consequences there are significantly more severe than in juvenile court. He noted, “As a former prosecutor, I believe it’s appropriate for this case to be handled in the adult division.” Bramnick explained that the criteria for transferring cases often involve the age of the accused and the gravity of the evidence presented.

He pointed out the importance of the public nature of adult court proceedings compared to the confidentiality of juvenile cases in New Jersey. This transparency allows families and the public to gain insight into the legal process, which Bruetnik called a positive shift. The road to justice, he acknowledged, would be lengthy and challenging for the affected families.
