18-year-old college student fatally stabbed during first semester celebration in England

An 18-year-old student was tragically killed in England while celebrating the end of his first semester at university, according to authorities.

Henry Nowak was out walking in Portswood when he became involved in a dispute with two unidentified men, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police reported on Sunday.

Upon the arrival of officers, they found Nowak with a stab wound to his chest and additional wounds to the back of his legs. Sadly, he was declared dead on the scene.

Nowak’s family shared that he was a freshman studying accounting and finance at the University of Southampton. They mentioned he was just out enjoying life after a successful semester when the tragic event occurred.

“Our kind, bright, and talented son was thriving in his first year, excelling in his studies, playing on two football teams, making new friends, and even working part-time at Morrisons,” the family stated.

They described him as someone loved by everyone around him, highlighting his roles not just as a son but also as a brother, cousin, friend, and teammate. “He was truly a remarkable person,” they added.

Witnesses noted he was celebrating with his football teammates for the end of term but, heartbreakingly, he did not return home.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police revealed that two men, aged 22 and 26, have been arrested on suspicion of murder linked to Nowak’s death. Reports also indicated that a 51-year-old man was arrested but later released on bail, while a 52-year-old woman was taken into custody for possibly assisting in a crime.

Details about these individuals have not yet been released.

His family expressed their devastation, stating they are “heartbroken” over the future they envisioned for their son. They conveyed, “There are no words to describe how heartbroken we are,” and shared their pride in all he accomplished. “Our world will never be the same without our wonderful Henry.”

Authorities have noted that the investigation is ongoing.
