19-Year-Old Arrested After Assault at Illegal Car Rally in Queens
A 19-year-old man was taken into custody on Thursday, facing multiple assault charges linked to a brutal attack on a couple during an unruly illegal car rally in Queens last month.
Justin Aguilera is charged with gang assault, battery, riot, and trespassing for allegedly assaulting a couple on November 22, when a group of reckless drivers took over a street corner in Marva and set a parked vehicle ablaze, according to the New York City Police Department.
When police brought Aguilera out of the NYPD’s 109th Precinct on Thursday night, he kept his head down, casting sharp glances at camera-wielding journalists.
The chaos erupted around 12:30 a.m. as several drivers heavily engaged in reckless behavior on South Drive and 141st Street, performing doughnuts and racing across private lawns.
The victim, Blake Feller, recalled that when he asked the group to leave his property, they responded with violence, kicking, punching, and stomping him.
His wife was also attacked, and the assailants damaged a nearby private security vehicle by setting it on fire.
Feller sustained broken bones from the assault and was taken to York Presbyterian Queen’s Hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, two other suspects fled south on the Whitestone Expressway in a white Chevrolet Silverado, according to police reports.
Previously released images from the NYPD showed two male suspects believed to be between the ages of 18 and 24.
During the riot, police were occupied with other incidents, which led to a delayed response of nearly 30 minutes, initially being reported as a drag race.
In light of these events, police officials have committed to increasing patrols in the typically calm Marwa neighborhood “to prevent a recurrence of such an incident.”
