If no one claims the tickets, the $2.9 million will be donated to California public schools.
On the night of the drawing, the ticket matched the numbers 8, 23, 44, 45 and 53, just missing out on the mega number 3. Fox 11 LA.
Mega Millions winners who match five numbers have 180 days from the drawing date to claim their prize.

Winning ticket holders can claim their prize at any of nine California Lottery offices across the state, or they can fill out the necessary paperwork and have it postmarked by Saturday.
The deadline was set after California faced a crisis earlier this year when a Powerball winner came forward in October to claim the second-largest jackpot prize in history, $1.765 billion.
Theodoras Strück was named as the representative for a group of winners who purchased the winning ticket at a store in Fraser Park, Kern County, ahead of the Oct. 11 drawing.

Meanwhile, a Powerball ticket holder in California won more than $621,000 in Wednesday’s drawing, falling just short of the $185 million jackpot.
The winning numbers were 8, 44, 45, 51 and 69, and the Powerball was 12.
The grand prize is worth an estimated $206 million.
