2 Black officers sue Louisville PD for discrimination

Two black Louisville Metro Police officers have filed a lawsuit alleging they faced discrimination, a hostile work environment and disparate punishment based on their race and faith, according to a released report.

The lawsuit was filed March 11 in Jefferson Circuit Court by Andre Shaw and Jay Moss, the Courier-Journal reported Friday. The newspaper cited multiple instances in which police officers were treated or disciplined in ways it said were unfair.

A police spokesperson told the newspaper the department does not comment on pending litigation.

Shaw also claimed that he faced retaliation from the department after his Islamic artwork and quotations were questioned, in part because he filed a complaint with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission last year alleging discriminatory practices. .
