Seven people were shot, two were killed, and five others were injured in a mass shooting in Washington, D.C., early Sunday morning, police said.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announced that shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday, officers were called to the intersection of 7th Avenue and P Street in Northwest on a report of a shooting. Two men with gunshot wounds died at the scene, and four other injured victims were also found.
All four injured adults were transported to local hospitals, while another injured person entered a local hospital seeking treatment for gunshot wounds.
Police are still investigating the motive for the shooting. Police said in a press release that a preliminary investigation “suggests that one or more suspects intentionally fired a firearm at the victim.”
Police are offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the incident.
“We are appealing to anyone who has information about this incident or who may have witnessed this incident to contact the Metropolitan Police Department,” Metropolitan Police Chief Jeffrey Carroll said at a press conference. early morning press conference.
