A police officer and a sheriff’s deputy were shot and killed Sunday night in the town of Salina, New York, officials said.
Onondaga County Sheriff Tobias Shelley identified the two as a deputy with his department and a Syracuse police officer, according to WSYR-TV. Their names have not been released.
The suspect also died in the incident, the newspaper said.

The shooting occurred at a home in the Darien Drive area around 8:15 p.m. Sunday.
Officers were initially responding to a report of a stolen vehicle in Syracuse, but eventually arrived at a home in Salina.

The sheriff’s office is awaiting a warrant to search the home.
Shelley said there was no immediate threat to the community and the area remained safe.
