Two teenagers were shot to death and one was seriously injured in a shooting outside a Newark high school in broad daylight Tuesday, police said.
Around 2:45 p.m., shots rang out from the stairs of Westside High School on South Orange Avenue near South 14th Street, killing a 15-year-old victim and a 17-year-old, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frazier said. The boy was injured.
Two teenage boys were taken to University Hospital, where the older victim was listed in critical condition, police said.
The young victim was considered to be in stable condition, authorities said.
The circumstances that led to the violence were not immediately clear.
Police also could not immediately confirm whether the teens were students at the school.
