2024 March Madness odds: College basketball championship update

February is approaching. Let the madness begin.

The calendar turns to February, football season comes to an end, and conference tournaments and March Madness 2024 quickly approach.

There's still plenty of time before we talk about seeding, but for now, the Purdue Boilermakers (+800) are the favorites to cut the net after the Men's March Madness College Basketball Championship. He is the consensus favorite to win.

Further down the odds board are the North Carolina Tar Heels, who sit atop the ACC with an 8-0 conference record.

Coach Hubert Davis' group opens Jan. 30 at BetMGM Sportsbook and is trending in the right direction.

Thanks to a hot start, they are now down to 16/1.

The defending national champion and No. 1 University Huskies (17-2) are also playing great basketball, coming off a win over North Carolina and a close win over St. John's.

The Boilermakers played No. 16 Farley Dickinson as a No. 1 seed last season, but they would obviously be hesitant to bet on Purdue.

The board is wide open and many bettors are actually losing to the favored Boilermakers.

John Calipari's Kentucky Wildcats are the most indebted at BetMGM, capturing 18.6 percent of the action in this market.

The sixth-ranked Wildcats suffered a 79-62 road loss to South Carolina earlier this week, but big-bodied Zvonimir Ivicic was recently cleared to join the team.
