Since taking the helm in 2007, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has demonstrated impressive consistency.
Throughout the last 18 seasons, the team has managed to maintain at least a .500 record each year, clinching the Super Bowl title in 2008 and reaching it again in 2010, albeit without winning.
However, things seem less certain for the team as of now.
Currently, the organization hasn’t secured a veteran starting quarterback—while rumors suggest they’re eyeing future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers, 41, Mason Rudolph and a rookie from 2025 are the only options on the roster.
Compounding their challenges, the Steelers recently dealt star wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys, with general manager Omar Khan noting it was “time for a new start.”
Despite these setbacks, the team boasts some strong talent. Pro Bowl players like Isaac Seumalo, Cameron Hayward, T.J. Watt, Patrick Queen, Minka Fitzpatrick, Miles Killebrew, and Chris Boswell are still present.
Moreover, they’ve acquired DK Metcalf, and brought in projected starters Darius Slay Jr. and Brandin Echols, alongside promising talents Derrick Harmon and Kaleb Johnson.
“Don’t panic, stay patient, and just keep working,” Hayward advised. He also mentioned, “It’s easy to jump ship when you think it’s sinking. We did our part. Winning the offseason doesn’t guarantee success in the regular season. We aren’t going to win the Super Bowl this way.”
Now that the schedule is out, discussions about the upcoming season are heating up.
Notable home games in 2025 feature a matchup against Metcalf’s former team, the Seattle Seahawks (September 14), and clashes with the Green Bay Packers (October 26), the Buffalo Bills (November 30), and a final showdown with the Baltimore Ravens.
