Ford Reveals Updates for 2027 F-150

Ford is gearing up for a refresh of its popular F-150 pickup for the 2027 model year, featuring hands-free towing, refreshed design elements, and a new Carhartt edition, which is quite exciting.

Greg Christensen, who oversees North America Trucks at Ford, shared insights about the updates with Fox Business, explaining that they’ve taken cues from how owners use their trucks—whether it’s for work, hauling equipment, or family trips towing RVs or boats.

A standout feature is the introduction of BlueCruise with Towing. This allows drivers to tow trailers—up to 10,000 pounds—while maintaining hands-free control on over 130,000 miles of compatible highways. I mean, that really changes the game for a lot of people.

“Towing is fundamental to our customers,” Christensen noted, emphasizing that over 75% of F-150 owners utilize their trucks for towing activities.

On the powertrain side, Ford is rolling out a new standard 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 engine. Plus, they’re bringing back the 5.0-liter V8 for the King Ranch and Platinum trims. There’s also a focus on more accessible options with new Tremor and Raptor variants. It seems they’re really trying to make their trucks appealing to a wider range of buyers.

Beyond the mechanics, Ford is boosting its collaboration with the Michigan workwear brand Carhartt. The new F-150 Carhartt package, available for 4×4 XLT Crew Cab models, includes exclusive designs, Carhartt-themed interior elements, a branded spray-in bedliner, and floor mats meant for tough conditions. It’s kind of a cool blend of rugged utility and style.

“We couldn’t be more excited about another iconic American brand partnering with us,” Christensen remarked, linking the companies’ shared heritage.

Earlier this year, Ford and Carhartt had announced a broader collaboration focused on what they’re calling the “essential economy.” This effort also introduced a Ford Super Duty Carhartt truck—co-developed to cater to essential workers who are integral to both brands’ histories.
