2028 Democratic Candidates Reconsider After Misleading Americans About Biden’s 2024 Downfall

As the 2024 election edges closer, discussions are heating up among Democrats about President Joe Biden’s cognitive health, particularly as attention shifts to those eyeing a presidential run in 2028. There are emerging details surrounding the perceptions of Biden’s mental acuity, which have sparked debate within the party. Key figures seem eager to sidestep their previous comments that shrugged off worries about the president’s state of mind.

Many Democrats assert they were largely unaware of Biden’s issues despite the public discourse focusing on his decline dating back to the 2020 campaign. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, serving as co-chair for Biden’s re-election campaign, mentioned, “As the state governor halfway through the country… I was busy working.” She added that she didn’t interact with Biden often enough to provide insight on his condition.

This comes after Whitmer had previously declared her trust in Biden, even following a challenging debate with Donald Trump. She reiterated her belief in his readiness to serve. Other Democratic leaders, like Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, have expressed a similar sentiment. Shapiro claimed to have been upfront with Biden in private but noted he often urged people not to fret about Biden’s mental state.

Reports indicate that, as of 2022, Biden struggled to recall names of long-time aides, highlighting his cognitive challenges. Concerns over his physical health had reportedly led aides to consider whether he should be using a wheelchair, although they decided to postpone any such discussions until after the election due to how it might affect public perception.

Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg praised Biden’s leadership qualities but, more recently, hinted that perhaps Democrats could have performed better without him in the race. He commented on his experiences working with Biden, mentioning that he received everything he needed promptly from the White House.

On the other hand, a Biden aide admitted that there had been a strategy to limit his interactions with the public, revealing insights from an upcoming book authored by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson. They disclosed that access to Biden had been restricted, underscoring worries about how his cognitive difficulties were being handled by the administration.

Senator Chris Murphy also addressed Biden’s cognitive decline, a point he seemed to contradict by asserting that Biden was still the best candidate for the future of the party. Moreover, past reports noted Biden needed to cancel engagements during low-energy days, and there were instances, such as calling out to a deceased congresswoman during an event, which raised eyebrows about his mental state.

The conversation isn’t just limited to elected officials; members of the corporate media have also shifted their narratives. Jake Tapper, who used to support Biden’s health fervently, engaged in a notable exchange where he challenged criticisms of Biden’s speech patterns, attributing them to his lifelong stutter.

Ultimately, as the party navigates these complex discussions, it becomes clear that there are varied perspectives on Biden’s capabilities and the implications for the future of the Democratic party.
