A Long Island man has been arrested for allegedly shooting his sister in the head using a crossbow, with reports suggesting he had been plotting this act since December.
On Friday night at around 9:23 PM, Sammy Sedom, 21, discharged an arrow that grazed the right side of his 28-year-old sister’s face, resulting in serious injury, according to the Nassau Police Department.
Court documents reveal that the brothers waited in their car across the street for their sister to return from the gym. Once she was home, they attacked her as she was attempting to close the garage door, as reported by WABC.
Sedom was apprehended on Friday, reportedly expressing to the police that he had intended to kill his sister and had been planning the act since Christmas.
Authorities found a hunting arrow lodged in the garage wall and also discovered a crossbow box, a Japanese sword, and a MacBook in Sedom’s bedroom, according to news sources.
The sister was taken to a local hospital and is currently in stable condition, as noted by Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly.
Donnelly indicated that the attack stemmed from a “sibling rivalry,” highlighting that the brothers had been arguing about the thermostat settings in their home.
A charge of attempted second-degree murder, along with first-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with evidence, and first-degree stalking has been brought against Sedom.
He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday, where a protection order against his sister was issued. A court appearance is set for Wednesday.
