24 AGs Back Emergency Stay to Let AZ Require U.S. Citizenship to Vote

The 24 attorneys general are fighting to get permission for Arizona to require people to be U.S. citizens to vote in federal elections.

The Attorney General recently Submitted Fox News reported on Thursday that an amicus letter had been sent to the U.S. Supreme Court in support of the emergency stay. The news comes as voters prepare to head to the presidential election in November.

“The Arizona Republican Party announced Thursday that it had filed an emergency petition to support HB 2492, a bill that would require proof of citizenship to vote in presidential elections, pending appeal from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit,” the article reads, noting that the bill would require proof of citizenship even to vote by mail.

The brief was supported by the attorneys general of 24 states, including the two that filed briefs, Kansas and West Virginia, as well as Texas, Florida, Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, and Virginia.

Among the groups that supported the emergency suspension were: Listed The groups are called the Honest Elections Project, Restoring Integrity and Trust in Elections, Inc. and the Center for Election Confidence, Inc., according to one of the documents.

Vice President Kamala Harris (Democrat), who chose radical left-wing Gov. Tim Walz (Democrat, Minnesota) as her running mate in the presidential election against former President Donald Trump (Republican), required attendees at a recent rally in Arizona to show photo ID, Breitbart News reported on Tuesday.

The decision comes as Harris and President Joe Biden (Democrat) have a history of opposing voter ID laws, and Harris has vowed to sign legislation if she becomes president that would allow millions of undocumented immigrants “eventually access naturalized U.S. citizenship and require nationwide no-excuse mail-in voting,” the outlet reported Saturday.

Meanwhile, Republicans are gaining advantages in key battleground states, Breitbart News reported Monday.

“Aggregate data looking at key states shows a striking trend in which Republicans appear to be quietly moving the needle in their own direction, in contrast to Democrats, who appear to be losing voters,” the article states.

The cases are as follows: Republican National Committee v. Mi Familia Votacase numbers 24-3188, 24-3559, and 24-4029 in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
