ICE Shooting Incident in Southern California

On Thursday, a shooting involving ICE agents took place in Southern California after a driver reportedly attempted to run down federal immigration officers.

The driver, identified as Carlos Jimenez, 24, has been claimed by his family to be a U.S. citizen. However, this claim hasn’t been confirmed through publicly available official records.

The incident, which happened around 6:30 a.m. in Ontario, began when a driver unrelated to an initial traffic stop confronted federal officers.

According to Tricia McLaughlin, a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), officers instructed the driver to leave the area. But as he started to drive away, he allegedly reversed his car towards the officers. An ICE officer, feeling threatened, then fired shots at the vehicle, prompting the driver to flee the scene and abandon his car.

McLaughlin mentioned that this type of violence against ICE agents is increasingly common, noting a staggering rise in assaults and threats. She emphasized that anyone who attacks or threatens federal officers will face serious legal consequences.

Jimenez was shot in the shoulder and left the scene, later being brought to a nearby hospital. He has since been treated for his injuries and released.

This incident follows another confrontation the previous week in Los Angeles, where a Mexican national, Carlitos Ricardo Parias, allegedly tried to ram ICE agents with his vehicle. Parias, who has a significant social media following as a citizen journalist, was charged with assault on a federal officer after the altercation, which resulted in him being shot in the elbow.

As President Trump’s broader deportation efforts continue, threats and attacks against ICE personnel have surged nationwide, raising concerns over the safety of law enforcement officers.
