3 dead in shooting at Las Vegas law office

Las Vegas (class) – Three people were killed in a shooting at a Las Vegas law office Monday morning, officials said.

Police said a man in his 70s opened fire around 10 a.m. during a deposition hearing in a child custody case at a law firm in Las Vegas’ wealthy Summerlin neighborhood.

The man shot through a table, killing a man in his 50s and a woman in her 30s, before killing himself, Las Vegas police homicide Lt. Jason Johansson said at a news conference.

Johansson said the shooting at the mid-rise office building occurred minutes after the hearing began Monday morning.

“It appears our two victims were very specific targets,” Johansson said.

Johansson said there were seven people in the room at the time of the shooting. He said the other four people, including the court reporter, were able to quickly escape and call police, and the children at the center of the detention incident were briefed and safe.

Investigators searched the gunman’s car, a red Ford Expedition, outside the office building after the shooting, Johansson said. He did not say what was found inside.

“With deep sadness, Prince Law Group would like to thank everyone who has reached out to us with messages of heartfelt concern and sympathy regarding the tragic violence that occurred at our offices this morning. ” the legal group said in a statement.

Johansson did not name the victims or the gunman, but said the shooting occurred in Suite 560, the address for Las Vegas attorney Dennis Prince’s law firm, Prince Law Group.

However, a source told Nexstar’s KLAS: The victims are Las Vegas attorney Dennis Prince and his wife Ashley Prince..

Robert Egret, Prince’s former law partner, said Prince was a wonderful father to their four children. His death was “a loss not only to the family but also to the community,” he said.

“We are deeply saddened by the devastating news of the passing of Dennis Prince, a prominent attorney who was considered one of the finest lawyers in the state,” said Tom Letizia, a political consultant and friend of Prince’s. said. “Dennis was not only a dear friend of mine, but a well-respected figure in our legal community. We are all saddened by his absence. The news of this tragedy touches me and our community. It had a huge impact on the whole thing.”

Summerlin stretches approximately 13 miles along the city’s western edge and is approximately 30 minutes west of the Las Vegas Strip.
