The Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General (IG) on Monday released a report revealing that three employees leaked information to the media in an attempt to damage Donald Trump's election prospects.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of Inspector General (OIG) has responded to allegations that actions by the Litigation Division are politically motivated and violate DOJ policies regarding disclosure of information regarding ongoing matters. An investigation has begun.
The OIG investigation found that three then-senior Justice Department officials leaked nonpublic Justice Department investigative information about ongoing DOJ investigations to some reporters in the days before the election, violating DOJ confidentiality. We were found to have violated our media contact policy, resulting in the publication of two news articles: Undisclosed Department of Justice investigation information. OIG's investigation revealed that one of these three then-senior Justice Department officials violated confidentiality and media communications policies and the Department of Justice by reposting links to news articles through the Department's social media accounts. It was also found that the department's social media policy was violated.

The OIG also submitted a report to the U.S. Office of Special Counsel, which has exclusive jurisdiction to investigate alleged violations of the Hatch Act, to consider whether the actions of these employees violated the Hatch Act.

The report also referred to “US classified information,” suggesting that Justice Department and FBI officials may have leaked classified information to the media. This appears to be another example of the Justice Department and FBI leaking materials and information to the media while responding forcefully to Congressional requests for similar information. More than that, it appears that the Biden-Harris Justice Department and FBI intentionally leaked this information, including potentially classified information, to the media approximately 90 days before the 2024 presidential election. This continued election interference by your institutions is yet another reason why the American people continue to lose confidence in the institutions you are responsible for leading.
The Egyptian investigation was conducted by then-special counsel Robert Mueller, but was reportedly abandoned due to lack of evidence.
