3 reasons Renee Good's death will not lead to a civil war

Governor Walz Suggests Civil War Following ICE Shooting

On January 8, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) made remarks that could be interpreted as alluding to a potential civil war after Renee Nicole Good was shot and killed by ICE agents following a car accident.

During a news conference, he invoked a historic moment, saying, “When things looked really bleak… it was No. 1 Minnesota who held that line for the country on that July 3, 1863. And I think we may be in that moment now. We’re asking you to toe the line about decency, toe the line about decency, toe the line about accountability, and above all, to stand up as neighbors and just say, ‘We can all look out for each other.'” His comments came shortly after he announced a “warning order” had been issued to the Minnesota National Guard in response to rising tensions over federal immigration enforcement, protests, and Good’s death.

Many conservative commentators and Republican leaders criticized Walz’s statements, labeling them as reckless and provocative, suggesting he was inciting potential insurrection with hopes of igniting a civil war.

In response, Blaze TV presenter John Doyle expressed skepticism. On “The John Doyle Show,” he argued that Good’s death wouldn’t serve as a catalyst for a civil war, providing several reasons for his view.

Reason #1: Public Perception of Race

Doyle remarked, “You can’t really mobilize people to protest the death of a white woman because, you know, they don’t identify with her racially. I mean, it’s complicated.” He suggested that many don’t view it as a tragedy.

Reason #2: Everyday Life Persists

“Not only would law enforcement be active, but people would largely accept it,” he added. He appreciates seeing friends on social media, living their regular lives, remarking that it frustrates those more politically active. “It really makes me happy that normal people aren’t overwhelmed by the louder voices,” he said.

Reason #3: Political Performances

Doyle pointed out that the media often exaggerates situations, citing CNN’s coverage of an alleged riot and the corresponding warnings of unrest. “It’s all theater,” he chuckled. “They want to create the illusion of being proactive, but they should be yielding to federal authority instead.” According to him, Democrats seem to be crafting scenarios to rally their supporters without any real resistance. “They rarely act unless they feel fully in control,” he concluded, a situation that, so far, hasn’t been the case.
