Seattle police on Tuesday released video of a high-speed chase that led to the arrest of three teenagers who authorities say used a stolen SUV to attempt three carjackings.
According to the Seattle Police Department, officers responded to several reports of carjackings and robberies on Dec. 19 around 9 p.m. The suspects are described as “three juvenile males in a gray SUV.”
Police began pursuing the suspect’s gray Hyundai in the Alki area and pursued it to the West Seattle Bridge, where officers were able to deploy spike strips and deflate the SUV’s tires.
Authorities said the suspects then drove southbound on Interstate 5 and stopped at South Coziat Drive and Ursula Place South in south Seattle.

The video shows three teenagers opening the SUV door and attempting to flee from officers, police said.

All three suspects, identified as two 14-year-old boys and a 16-year-old boy, were arrested after a brief foot pursuit with the assistance of the King County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit.

In the first attempted carjacking, two of the teens opened the car door, approached the victim and demanded the car, threatening to “have a gun,” police said. The man locked his car and fled to a nearby store.
Police said the same suspect then attempted to carjack a 37-year-old woman who was in the vehicle. She refused their demands, drove to a safe location and called 911.
In the third attempted carjacking, the suspects allegedly stole two cell phones and keys from a 52-year-old man and a woman. The woman pointed out the suspect’s gray Hyundai to police and a pursuit began.

The teens were arrested on suspicion of robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle and attempting to flee from police. They were booked into the Judge Patricia H. Clark Child and Family Justice Center.
