3 shot, 1 stabbed in Christmas fight at Phoenix airport

Three people were shot and one person was stabbed during a family brawl at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on Christmas Day, police said.

The violence occurred around 9:45 p.m. at a restaurant in front of security in Terminal 4, when someone pulled out a gun and fired a shot during a fight. According to ABC15.

Three people, including a woman who continued to fight for her life, were found with gunshot wounds. Police later detained the man, who had at least one stab wound, and the girl, who was unharmed, in an airport parking lot. CNN reported.

“I believe this was an escalation of a family dispute,” said Sgt. Myra Leeson told reporters early Thursday.

Four people, including the woman who was shot, were rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Police said the two men who were also shot and the man who was stabbed are all in stable condition. No one involved has been identified.

The shooting forced the temporary closure of the terminal's security checkpoint and restaurant, airport officials and police told CNN.

Flights are not affected and the investigation is ongoing.
