3 takeaways from J.D. Vance’s RNC speech

When Donald Trump formally selected Ohio Senator J.D. Vance as his running mate, he was hardly a household name.

“He’s a newcomer to most people in America.” Stu BruguiereHe noted that Vance has “only been in office for two years” and “doesn’t have a lot of political experience.”

That being said, Vance’s speech at the Republican National Convention was essentially an opportunity to introduce himself to the rest of America.

Here are the three biggest lessons Stu learned from Vance’s debut speech:

communication

According to Stu, Vance is “a great communicator” and “articulate…a lot like Vivek Ramaswami, who never stumbles.”

He “could hold an audience pretty well” — especially “when he was talking about his life.”

“He told some amazing stories” about his temperamental grandmother and his mother’s “10 years of sobriety,” which “may have been the best moment of the speech,” Stu says.

credibility

Stu says Nikki Haley and Tim Scott’s speeches have taken on an “awkward politician tone,” but “J.D. Vance doesn’t have that problem.”

He delivered a “very natural speech” and did not “feel forced” or “statesmanlike,” but it was still clear “he knows the policy.”

Discussion

If Vance were to take part in a debate, Stu believes his ability to negotiate with his opponent would be “one of his strengths.”

“I’m confident that J.D. Vance will beat Kamala Harris,” he said, which could happen if Biden remains the Democratic nominee.
