Large Ethereum Transactions Draw Attention

Significant Ethereum (ETH) transfers have recently caught the eye of the crypto community. Whale Alert, a blockchain data tracker, reported that 129,392 ETH, valued at around $312,981,377, was moved from unknown wallets to the popular exchange Coinbase.

The timing of this transfer is intriguing, especially with Ethereum’s price trending down. When funds are deposited on an exchange, it often indicates a plan to sell, while withdrawals usually suggest buying. It’s unclear whether this transfer is institutional, and the identity of the sending wallet remains a mystery.

From this perspective, market watchers are keen to see if the ETH will be sold, held, or reallocated. Currently, Ethereum is trading lower, which aligns with a broader downturn in the crypto market, leading to significant liquidations totaling $471 million.

Red Ethereum Prices Despite ETF Inflows

Initially, the Ethereum ETF didn’t garner much interest in its first year, but things have shifted recently as institutional demand has picked up. According to Sosovalue, funds aimed at tracking Spot ETH prices have seen inflows for six consecutive weeks, marking the eighth positive week out of the last nine.

Despite these inflows, Ethereum prices have remained in the red this month, showing little change from the previous month. The currency has dropped 25%, largely fueled by uncertainty surrounding its value proposition, a decrease in revenue since the last major upgrade, and increased competition from Solana. Recent market fluctuations, compounded by broader economic uncertainties, haven’t helped either.

In March, Standard Chartered significantly reduced its price target for Ethereum, though they did hint at a potential recovery later this year. As of now, ETH has fallen 3.26% in the last 24 hours and is down 4.17% for the week, trading at approximately $2,425.
