What makes the Sunbird so special?
Can you imagine a spacecraft that can reach speeds of around 329,000 miles? What is that Sunbird I’m aiming for it. This incredible speed is due to the fusion propulsion system. The Sunbird boasts a 2 MW power system integrated with a high specific impulse, making it a reusable transfer vehicle perfect for space missions that are currently out of reach.

How does it work?
The dual direct fusion drive is designed to generate thrust and continuous power. Think of it as the ultimate energy efficient engine. It can provide a specific impulse between 10,000 and 15,000 seconds while generating 2 megawatts of energy. What this really means is that the mission can last longer and requires much less fuel compared to traditional rockets.

What can Sunbird do?
Sunbird has some very surprising potential uses. Imagine transporting 2,200-4,400 pounds of cargo to Mars in under six months, transporting about 60 days faster than the current system, allowing critical supply to reach Red Planet faster. It can also power scientific instruments in areas with weak solar energy, while still carrying probes to distant planets like Jupiter and Saturn within four years.
As a reusable Cislunar transport system, Sunbird can deliver up to 3,300 pounds of supply into lunar orbit. It supports operations such as fuel processing and spacecraft navigation. Sunbirds were also able to promote trips to near Earth asteroids for mining, reducing travel time and providing the power needed for excavation and processing materials. Finally, it powers next-generation space telescopes in distant orbits, supporting cryogenic and real-time communications, opening up new possibilities for space observation.

Reduction costs and energy requirements
Reaching low Earth orbit is one of the most energy-intensive parts of space travel. When can you see the Sunbirds in action?
