A 38-year-old Brooklyn man who was beaten by a man on a moped in Manhattan last week died from his injuries three days after the attack, police said Monday.
Florian Ortmann and his 56-year-old friend were beaten to death by the violent man on Friday after the pair confronted the man over a sidewalk bump.
Police said the moped driver struck the elderly man around 2:40 a.m. Tuesday in front of Rudy’s Bar & Grill on 9th Avenue near West 44th Street.
Police said the two men had an argument and then the moped driver punched the man in the face, rendering him unconscious.
According to the New York Police Department, Oltman, a Williamsburg resident, then confronted the assailant, but his head slammed into the concrete and he sustained fatal injuries from a blow to the face.
He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition and died three days later.
The friend, from Illinois, was taken to Mount Sinai West Hospital in stable condition, police said.
The suspect fled the scene on a black moped after the vicious attack and remains at large.
