Jonathan Vegas won the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities, beating PGA Tour rookie Max Glaserman by one stroke.
Vegas shot a 1-under 70 to finish at 17-under par on Sunday afternoon. The win was Vegas’ fourth career PGA Tour victory and his first since winning the RBC Canadian Open in 2017.
Glazerman fired an 8-under 63 to keep the pressure on.
Matt Kuchar and Maverick McNeely challenged the Venezuelan all day, but the former Georgia Tech golfer couldn’t make a putt late and McNeely dropped a stroke on the 15th hole.
At one point during the round, it looked like a five-man playoff was going to happen, but Vegas made birdies when he needed them most to hold off the others.

The 40-year-old PGA Tour veteran has overcome a lot since his last victory in 2017. After all the injuries and various surgeries, it meant a lot to him to get back on top again.
“It’s always a great feeling,” Vegas told Amanda Balionis. CBS Sports“Every win is special, especially coming back from two surgeries. It was a tough day for me, I wasn’t 100%. Also, having my little kid here makes it even more special. I’ve never won with my kid yet, so this is for him too.”
On Sunday, cameras caught him flicking his wrist a few times, and even though he wasn’t 100%, Vegas found a way to get the job done.
“You have to be fit to play 72 holes,” he said. “I wasn’t in good shape today and I could tell from the first hole. I was calm and I knew I was playing good golf. I had to give it my all and luckily I was able to come out with the win.”
Vegas recorded four birdies and three bogeys over the final 18 holes, which was enough to get the job done.
The 500 points he earned from the win moved him up from 149th to 66th in the FedEx Cup standings. The top 70 players will advance to the first playoff event, the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
