An earthquake struck the New York area Friday morning, shaking buildings and leaving many New Yorkers and New Jersey residents in chaos.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D.N.Y.) announced that there were no major impacts from the earthquake.
“There are no reports of significant impacts at this time, but we are evaluating the impacts,” Adams’ office said in a statement.
The last major earthquake on the East Coast was on August 23rd.rd, in 2011, affected millions of people from Georgia to Canada. This earthquake recorded a magnitude of 5.8, making it the largest earthquake since World War II.
