President Donald Trump is reportedly in negotiations with several potential buyers in China's U.S. division.
On Sunday, President Trump told Air Force reporters that he was negotiating with four different possible buyers in Tiktok's US division, and that there is a high chance that a deal will come “quickly.” Report According to Bloomberg.
“We deal with four different groups and a lot of people want it,” President Trump said.
The president refused to name the potential buyer, but he reportedly said “all four are good.”
Last week, President Trump said he thought the deal would be extended if necessary, likely to move to April 5th, but that the agreement would be finalized by next month.
As reported by Breitbart News, previous bipartisan law sets a January 19 deadline for Tiktok's Chinese parent company, Beijing-based ordinance, selling the app's US service or being banned in the US.
January 19th – One day before Trump took office, Tiktok went dark for American users. An American user read, “Sorry, Tiktok is not available now.”
The message further explained that a “law banning Tiktok” was enacted in the United States, but continued to praise President Trump for “showing he would work” with social media companies to find a “solution to revive Tiktok.”
On his first day in office, President Trump issued an executive order offering a 75-day residency on the ban that directs the DOJ not to enforce penalties against app stores and other service providers to work with Tiktok during that period.
In the meantime, President Trump is reportedly working to mediate a sale that he believes will see Tiktok's US services not owned by China.
In particular, US lawmakers on either side of the aisle have been alarming about Tiktok for a while, citing national security risks as the app's parent company is seen by the Chinese Communist Party.
