4 Nations Face-Off: US team receives Trump pep talk

President Donald Trump revealed a call with the US hockey team on Thursday ahead of the High Stakes 4 Nations Face Off Final vs Canada.

Trump posted a phone footage on X's video and revealed that motivational messages were delivered solely for Trump to do so.

“You guys are really talented. I have a great respect for hockey players. I'm a hockey fan. I love hockey,” Trump began.

The coach and players were seen smiling, but as the president said, he continued to look stoic.

“Talent, the skills you have are crazy. And just go out and have a good time tonight. I just want to wish you a lot of good luck. You're a skill group of people.” Trump continued. “It's an honor to talk to you, and then there's no pressure at all.”

The players uttered a light laugh after Trump's “no pressure” line.

Finally, Trump set out with his closing message.

“You just go out and have a good time. You're going to win, and we love America. We love you guys. We're watching tonight. We'll take you home! ” Trump concluded.

The interests of Thursday's match were raised amid physical hostility among teams throughout the tournament and geopolitical tensions between the two countries in recent weeks.

It began on February 13th, when Canadian fans in Montreal booed the US national anthem. The tension stems from President Donald Trump's recent threat to issuing tariffs in Canada, as well as suggesting that the country should become the 51st state in the United States.

“I think it's a bit of everything. Canada-US is a big hockey rivalry,” he said. “I think there was a bit of a political flare on it. That's when we're there. I think our guys used it as inspiration.
