Adams argued that the case was pursued through law and that the fighting was fought in public opinion courts rather than in appropriate legal channels.
“When it was released, the news media received information before we did that,” Adams said. “They've been receiving it for the last 10 months, so you know, um, the goal is to try and make this case public, not the criminal justice system on the spot. It seems like that.”
Attorney General Pam Bondy, Attorney General Chad Mizzell, defended the decision to dismiss the accusations of politically motivated.
“The decision to dismiss Eric Adams' indictment is another indication that this DOJ will return to its core function of prosecuting dangerous criminals without pursuing a politically motivated witch hunt. .”
Seven DOJ lawyers resigned in protest following their decision to withdraw the charges.

Despite the continued push for resignation and his own resignation, Adams says x He will not resign.
“Through all the negative headlines, rumors and criticism, I remained clear. I'm not resigning,” Adams said. “I'm stepping up. No matter what you read or what you see, they might want to fight me, but I'm always fighting for you.”
