San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall finally reached the end zone Sunday for his first career touchdown catch against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The touchdown came more than two months after he was shot and injured during an attempted robbery in San Francisco. The bullet penetrated Pearsall, nearly causing him to lose vital organs, but it was nothing short of miraculous.

He spent several weeks trying to get back into playing shape and made his season debut on October 20 against the Kansas City Chiefs. He played in the game against the Dallas Cowboys on October 27th. Through those two games, he had seven catches for 59 yards.
On Sunday, Brock Purdy found Pearsall in the middle of a field. There was an open field in front of him, and Buccaneers safety Antwon Winfield Jr. was unable to beat him before the ball crossed the goal line.
San Francisco led 7-0 early in the game.

After his team's win over the Cowboys, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was asked if he had seen consistent improvement in Pearsall.
“Yeah, it's a huge success. You could see it in practice,” Shanahan said at the time. “You could see that every time we practiced with Ricky because he was very limited in what he had, but he picked it up quickly.
