49ers rookie Ricky Pearsall poses with first responders who helped save his life after shooting at game

San Francisco 49ers rookie receiver Ricky Pearsall was on the sideline in plain clothes after he was shot during an attempted robbery at Levi's Stadium on Monday night.

Before the game, the paramedics who saved Pearsall's life were on the sidelines, and he encouraged them to enjoy the team's season opener.

The video shows Pearsall hugging the emergency workers, engaging in pleasant conversation and giving them autographed jerseys.

49ers fans erupted in cheers as the exchange was shown on the Jumbotron, with Piersall also appearing to write messages on the back of each jersey.

Pearsall, the 31st overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft out of the University of San Francisco, was shot during a struggle with a 17-year-old suspect who was charged with attempted murder, assault with a semi-automatic rifle and attempted second-degree robbery, with several gun-related charges added last week.

The 17-year-old boy allegedly tried to steal a luxury watch that Pearsall was wearing as he walked to his car.

'It's a miracle' 49ers rookie Ricky Peirsol survived shooting, coach Kyle Shanahan says

Pearsall was shot in the chest, the bullet missing any vital organs and exiting through his back, and paramedics were seen on video assisting him as he was led to an ambulance.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan said he sent a message to the team as soon as he learned of the incident.

“Yeah, once everybody came in,” Shanahan said of the atmosphere inside the 49ers building after the team found out the news. “Nobody knew exactly what the situation was, so as soon as everybody got there, we were able to reassure them that he was absolutely OK and that it was a miracle. I think he was shot about two inches below his praying hands tattoo. It was kind of amazing.”

After receiving treatment at the hospital, Pearsall was eventually able to speak with his teammates via FaceTime.

Pearsall was eventually released from San Francisco General Hospital Trauma Center and was spotted working out at the team facility last week.

The 49ers placed him on the non-football injured list, which will give him time to recover from not only his shooting but also the shoulder and hamstring injuries he's had throughout training camp.
