4th-grade girl allegedly beats teacher in head with metal object — principal arrested for allegedly covering incident up

An altercation between students and teachers at a Tennessee elementary school left one man with a concussion and the principal handcuffed.

On February 2, a fourth-grade female student at Southwest Elementary School in Williston, Tennessee, about 45 miles east of Memphis, was arrested by her fifth-grade social studies teacher, Demetrius Blood, for “acting out.” Sent to Lee’s classroom. ” according to report.

While in the classroom, Mr. Bradley approached the girl, who allegedly responded violently and slapped Mr. Bradley on the hand several times. She then reportedly grabbed a metal Stanley Cup and punched Bradley in the face several times, hitting him in the jaw and temple.

Bradley later reported “seeing stars” and was sent home under concussion protocol. School resource officer Randy Collins noticed Bradley’s absence and asked what happened next. Mr. Bradley told Mr. Collins his version of events and claimed he felt better, but he did not want to discuss the matter further.

Bradley’s comments shocked Collins, who had not heard anything about the incident. tennessee law Requires staff to report all assaults that result in injury or safety threats on school property.

Ms. Collins then confronted Principal Favre-Ford and demanded to know why she kept him in the dark. Ford allegedly responded that he had already “addressed” the situation by reporting it to his supervisor and speaking with his child’s parents. When Ms. Collins asked why she did not pay attention to it, she claimed that he was not at school at the time, but Ms. Collins disputed this claim.

Still frustrated, Collins began investigating the issue further. But the investigation was hampered because Mr. Ford instructed potential witnesses not to cooperate, he said.

Mr. Collins then consulted the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office about the incident. When Ms. Ford was brought in for questioning, she reportedly refused to speak or provide her witness statement. She was then arrested Paid Tampering or fabricating evidence in an investigation of an aggravated assault incident at a school.

She visibly cried as the officer took her booking photo. It is unclear whether she has ever been arrested.

Ford was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court later this month.she went back to work within days of her arrest.

In a statement, Fayette County Public Schools called Ford a “valued employee” who is “very passionate about his staff and students.”

“We are disappointed by these allegations regarding the incident at Southwest Elementary School,” the statement continued. “As a district, we will be transparent and cooperate fully with law enforcement. We ask for your patience and respect as the investigation into this incident takes place. We will resolve this matter quickly. We are committed to working with law enforcement to achieve this goal.”

The sheriff’s office also began investigating the fight between Bradley and the student and learned details indicating that Bradley may have actually instigated the fight. The nature of those details has not been disclosed.
