It’s almost here! It’s almost here! College Football 25 It will be released in a matter of hours, not days or months, and after going without college football in video game form for so long, we are truly looking forward to it.
Obviously, everyone starts off by playing their favorite team to get a feel for everything, but eventually you move into dynasty mode and have a chance to build a program from the ground up and become a powerhouse.
While the dominance of established top 10 programs might be enough for some, the real magic is turning underdog teams into legends. Here are five teams we can’t wait to build in dynasty mode.
Mark Schofield: Navy
For each session NCAA In the video game series, I began building a dynasty in the Navy.
Over the years I’ve taken a number of different paths, one time ending with a dynasty in Texas, another with the swamp in Florida, but I always start with Navy, partly because of the fact that Annapolis is just a short drive from where I live. At the time it was all about the flexbone offense that Navy ran, and their ability to run an option style offense. There was also the issue of it being difficult to recruit wide receivers to play in a system that didn’t use the pass much, which added another hurdle.
Also, “Anchors Aweigh” is pretty hard.
So, I’m not going to ruin the tradition. Good luck Navy.
Jared Mueller: Akron Zips
Look, I have Ohio State Buckeyes in my blood (and student loans), but it’s not fair to use the reigning champions as a starter.
On the other hand, using LeBron James’ hometown team could be a lot of fun, depending on how creative the game allows me to be. LeBron is also a Buckeyes fan, so could we get the NBA star as an endorser/sponsor for the Zips?
Plus, I would love to see a strong Kangaroo lifting the trophy at the end of year three.
James Deiter: Appalachian State University
What more could you ask for in a dynasty school than Appalachian? First, the location. It’s a location you’ll see a lot of times. Kidd Brewer Stadium is surrounded by the Appalachian Mountains and is truly beautiful, making for some seriously fun pregame shots.

Secondly, the school is good enough to play for and not just be a terrible experience, Joey Aguilar is a really solid freshman quarterback to get things started before relying on the portal and recruiting to beef up his sophomore year and beyond, and they also have a great No. 1 receiver in Kaedyn Robinson to get things going.
Honestly, the biggest reason to play Appalachian State is to make life hell for everyone else. Every year, a non-conference team plays Appalachian State. everytime The thing is, Clemson plays the Mountaineers in Week 2. So, come out, rip your fan belt, put the Mountaineers out, and make Dabo Swinney cry.
If you want to grow a small program into a behemoth, there’s no better place to do it than Appalachian State University.
JP Acosta: South Alabama
As a Southerner, I wanted to start somewhere in the South and somewhere I’d been before. What better place than Mobile, Alabama and the South Alabama Jaguars? The campus is beautiful and less than an hour from the beach. Not only that, but it’s only five minutes away from The Cookout, which will be my primary recruiting spot.
Additionally, they have some very talented players on the roster after Kane Womack’s departure. Jayden and Devin Voisin play on the other side of the ball (Jaden at safety and Devin at receiver) and are both invaluable to the team. QB Gio Lopez has potential, but there’s still plenty of room to build a team in his own image.
Plus, you belong in the Fan Belt! The best conference in football needs you!
Jared Mueller #2: Colorado Buffaloes
Call me mean, but my other team is the Buffaloes because I want to compare the team I built with the team that a prime Deion Sanders built. Can I outdo a prime coach? Now that NCAA football is back on, we’ll find out in real time.
