5 NFL matchups we’d like to see on Christmas Day

This may be one of the most anticipated Wednesdays in sports history.

The NFL’s Grinch-like greed will be on full display this season when it plays two Christmas Day games on Wednesday. The game will reportedly be part of a new package with Netflix. This is a move that shows the NFL will do whatever it takes for contracts and recognition, and it means stepping on the younger brother’s toes. It’s okay for the NBA to cap off Christmas on a non-traditional NFL game day.

Frankly, as NFL fans, we’re here for it.

The schedule is reportedly scheduled to be announced on May 15th at 8pm ET, so let’s take a look at the five matchups you’ll want to see on December 25th.

Now, these matchups aren’t necessarily the NFL’s premier games in 2024. Of course, we’re looking for elite teams (both teams that will ultimately be in the Super Bowl played on Christmas Day 2023, and both played like they had coal in their stockings), but the twist is I’m also looking for a less obvious matchup with . Along with our eggnog.

So, here’s my list of things I want for Christmas:

baltimore ravens in Los Angeles Chargers

This is our most selfish wish on Christmas Day. The rematch between brothers John and Jim Harbaugh, the first since Super Bowl 47 12 years ago, is definitely destined to be a hot spot on the schedule. Would you like the Harbaugh family to celebrate with us on Christmas Day? If that happens, it will be the biggest gift under the tree. And since Harbose is unlikely to miss the game due to injury, it makes sense as a late-season matchup.

new york jets in pittsburgh steelers

This requires Schedule Santas to have a twisted sense of humor, and we hope they have. This leaves the Jets and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett facing off against the Steelers and Russell Wilson. This will be done based on their Christmas traditions. In 2022, denver broncos lost 51-14 Los Angeles Rams on Christmas day. Hackett was fired the next morning, but his teaming up with Wilson with the Rockies was also disastrous and lasted less than a year. Ah, the memories. Also, the game between the Jets and Aaron Rodgers vs. the Steelers in a late-season matchup that could have real implications for the AFC playoffs would be television gold. So the intention here is not just an offensive joke.

philadelphia eagles in new york giants

We’re ready to revisit this match on Christmas 2023. But this time it’s New Jersey. Giants fans have been thinking about what to give Saquon Barkley for Christmas since the moment he was traded to Philadelphia in free agency. It should be a heartwarming reunion.

las vegas raiders in new orleans saints

Yes, we are big fans of holiday reunions. Derek Carr will play against the Raiders for the first time as an opponent. Carr, perhaps the most polarizing player in Raiders history, was released in 2023 after nine seasons as the Raiders’ starting quarterback. It’s emotionally deep and should make for good television.

chicago bears in commander of washington

This will be a very fun matchup. The first two picks in the draft, the Bears’ Cullen Williams and the Commanders’ Jayden Daniels, will be compared throughout their careers. Therefore, their first meeting will be memorable. We all want to see it, it could be Christmas Day.
