5 Pastors Speak Out about the Election during Their Sunday Sermons

With just two days left until Election Day, churches across the country united in worship Sunday to raise their prayers for the country and its future as Americans prepare to make their voices heard.

In many cases, pastors used Scripture as guidance in their sermons, emphasizing the importance of voting and encouraging members to trust in God's will and speak the truth in love to their friends and family.

Here are five sermon samples.

1. Ray Johnston, Bayside Church, California

“We have a divided America right now. … God wants us to live, love, lead, vote and participate as His people should,” Johnston said. said. “And I would like to give you five instructions.…The first one is this: Vote for your values.…We have the Bible; has the greatest source of information ever written – God's wisdom and values. Read your Bible. Absorb what it says and become a follower and disciple of Christ. , form your values, then go out and vote for your values first and foremost. The second thing I want to say is this: How you vote matters. How you act is more important than how you vote. So be a living example of Jesus Christ. They have the Bible, but they are mean, mean, and lawless. The entire Bible tells us that God is working to make us ultimately live, love, and lead like Jesus Christ. 3 says, “Don't let politicians you don't know stop you from loving those you know. This has become a tragic epidemic in our churches and communities.”

“Fourth is this…we are called to live with an eternal perspective.…And in light of the fact that we have been in eternity for a billion years, in light of that, we How should we live our lives? …I said, “We want Republicans to come to Christ. We want Democrats to come to Christ. Not just for the next four years, but for something bigger.” I want you to live.'' And this is the last thing. We are called to love our country…we pray for our country. Pray for God's protection, God's provision, and pray for God to have His way. …We all want a country with God-honoring values. And we want a country where every child born has an equal opportunity to grow up in this country. ”

2. Jason Strand, Eaglebrook Church, Minnesota

“God not only rules your life and my life, but He rules the nations,” Strand said. said during his Sunday sermon. “This weekend before the election, I want you to know: Our hope doesn't lie in politicians. Our hope doesn't lie in political parties. Our hope lies in politics. No, our hope is in Jesus Christ.

“…How should we live as we approach Tuesday’s election? This is the first way I believe: by speaking the truth in love. In fact, it's hard to love the people you label… It's really hard to love the people you label, because they're not the ones to love, they're the ones to beat. In his book, this is because… truth and lovesays author Matt Brown. He says, “Nowhere in the Bible does God allow us to be fools.” He says, “If God's people were not merciful, how would the world see God's grace?” Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not talking about bending the truth. I'm talking about speaking the truth in love.

“Vote based on your godly values.…If all the followers of Christ say, “You know, I'm not voting, I don't want to vote,'' — well, then All Christians get to decide the future, and I don't like that.

“…Vote and pray.…Would you like to pray for those who didn’t vote?…Pray for God to soften their hearts and for God to work in their lives.”

3. Greg Laurie, Harvest Christian Fellowship, California

“It's very important that we Christians vote,” Rowley told church members. “…And I think some people say Christians shouldn’t get involved in politics. After all, we are citizens of heaven, and we are meant to be in this world. It is true that we are citizens of heaven, but we are also Christians on earth, and Jesus asks us to be salt and light in our culture. So how can we be a light? According to Jesus, we should be a light before others so that they may see our good deeds and glorify our heavenly Father. We become salt when we shine, and when we stop the spread of evil as best we can. We need to pray, we need to preach the gospel, and we need to vote.

“It is very important that we vote because we have a book of absolute truth in the Bible that tells us what God thinks about many of the issues that are currently on the ballot. We need to speak out because the Bible says godly things.'' When people rule, people rejoice, but when evil rules, people groan. . We Christians and conservatives are being insulted a lot by the left these days. They think our men are stupid and weak. They call us terrorists, Nazis, fascists, want to abort babies up to 9 months old, and support countries like Iran that support terrorism. We want to draw support from Israel, our long-time ally. They cannot define what a woman is. And when someone says that Jesus is Lord in their family, they want to encourage criminals. At meetings, you will be told that you are in the wrong meeting. Therefore, this party and these people cannot get my vote. I just want you to know.

“People say vote your conscience. I don't know, it depends where your conscience is. I say vote for Biblical values. Vote for policy over character. But most of all, vote, and we'll pray for you.'' And as I said before, whoever is elected President of the United States, I will pray for them. I do, because I am commanded to do so in the Bible. ”

4. Ed Young, Fellowship Church, Texas

“I voted a few days ago and asked myself the same question. So I'd like to throw out the questions I asked in a way. Maybe they will help you. …Number Wan: Which candidate best protects God's property? Designed with biological sex in mind…The Bible gives us only one choice when it comes to sex: one man in marriage. , 1 woman. Do you know which candidates support religious freedom in Canada? If I preach this message, I could be arrested. People, even if you pick the wrong group, it's only a matter of time, because I'm telling you something, and they're going to come after you, and they're going to come after you…Third. Place: Which candidate will protect free speech and the right to bear arms? …No. 4, Which candidate will protect the lives of growing infants? …No. 5, Which candidate emphasizes and emphasizes Christian values? Family?[Number six:] Which candidate supports Israel? … [Number seven:] Which candidate will protect our borders? We must protect our borders. I think of all the people who come to the United States, I think that's great, but they have to do it the right way. ”

5. Skip Heitzig, Calvary Church, New Mexico

“Please don't leave this alone” Heitzing said member. “Do your homework. I won't tell you who to vote for, but if you want to come and see me personally, I'll tell you who I voted for, but it's a private conversation. … Go and Find out what’s out there” platform [of] The parties are yes. You say, “Well, I don't like either candidate.” strict. You're not just voting for candidates. You're going to be voting for thousands of people who are going to go to Washington and implement their agenda. You can express your opinion on what kind of agenda you would like to see come to fruition, so please actively participate. …Make your voice heard and vote. ”
