One person was killed and another injured when the jump house a 5-year-old boy was riding in “flew into the air” and crashed onto the field during a minor league baseball game in Maryland, authorities said.
About 9:20 p.m. Friday night, strong winds lifted the moon 15 to 20 feet into the air, sending children playing inside the moon flying and causing the inflatable structure to land on the field at Regency Furniture Stadium, where the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs were playing. A 5-year-old boy from La Plata suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported by helicopter by Maryland State Police to Children’s Hospital, where he later died.

A second child with non-life-threatening injuries was also taken to a local hospital, whose condition was not immediately available.
“Our entire company sends our condolences to the family who lost a child and our hearts go out to the child who was injured,” Blue Crabs general manager Courtney Nichel said in a statement.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with them all,” she added.
The team canceled its game scheduled for Saturday and all baseball activities.
The Blue Crabs said they would provide counselling services to players and fans who attended the game.
